Forest Heights

Created in the 1990s, Forest Heights is a master planned community in the West Hills of Portland. For those seeking a little bit of California construction in their Portland residence, Forest Heights is a pleasant planned community with decidedly Portland amenities. The architects and planners made this neighborhood intentionally unique by including ample green space, walking paths, and common areas. A full 1/3 of the Forest Heights development is set aside as green space including trails, habitats, and recreational areas. Neighborhood streets are steep, but the views are outstanding. Many of thesenewer single-family homes have ample square footage. Luxury townhouses abound. The neighborhood is almost entirely residential. A small shopping complex was opened in 2005 and includes Starbucks and a few additional shops & services. An active homeowners association maintains trails & habitats and enforces guidelines on home & neighborhood appearance. The association also provides a shuttle bus from various points in the neighborhood to the Sunset Transit Center. No bus lines serve the neighborhood and this is not considered an incredibly walkable part of Portland. Northwest Portland’s popular restaurants and shopping spots are a 10-15 minute drive from Forest Heights. The neighborhood has a reputation for drawing Silicon Forest employees, particularly those from Intel’s Hillsboro office. Residents are easily able to avoid the back-ups on Highway 26 heading out to Beaverton or Hillsboro by choosing to live here. Families adore the excellent schools. Each of the schools that serve Forest Heights including Forest Park Elementary, West/East Sylvan Middle, and Lincoln High School are rated as exceptional by the Oregon Department of Education.
